"Wild Calais!"

"Wild Calais!" began in the spring of 2025, when Calais Tree Warden and Conservation Commissioner Neal Maker composed a series of articles on Calais conservation design and the elements that make up our rich natural environment. They were originally posted to Front Porch Forum and can be enjoyed below.

PHOTO CONTEST!

To celebrate our vibrant and varied landscape, the Calais Conservation Commission is sponsoring a photo contest, and you're invited to participate!

Whether you're out on the landscape and inspired by what you see, or you're moved by the fascinating information below, you're welcome to submit photos taken in Calais.  You can find out more about the rules and how to submit your photos on the "Wild Calais" Photo Contest page.

Participants are encouraged to read the articles below, think of where in Calais you can find these types of environments, and go take some photos there, or if you already have some beautiful photos to share, use that information to determine the kind of environment you photographed.

You can view photos that have already been submitted by your friends and neighbors on our "Wild Calais" Photo Contest Gallery page.
