Planning Commission
The Planning Commission is responsible for writing a Town Plan and Zoning Ordinances, which are then reviewed by the Selectboard and ultimately placed before the voters for consideration. Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. in the Town Office (3120 Pekin Brook Rd) on the first and third Tuesdays of each month. All meetings are open to the public.
Currently, the Commission is working on the 2024 Calais Town Plan. They are also working with the Central Vermont Regional Planning Commission to perform a Traffic Calming Study in the East Calais Village on Route 14. The SHROD Map can be viewed online here but must be downloaded to turn layers on and off.
To be able to fully utilize the map:
1) Download Adobe Acrobat Reader on your PC [it is a free app]
2) Open the SHROD map and click the "save" icon to save it to your computer
3) Open in the Adobe Reader app
4) Use the legend and toggles to see various layers on the map.

The Calais Planning Commission has 5 members, who are appointed by the Selectboard. Terms on the Planning Commission are four years.
