Requesting an Absentee Ballot:
-
To request that a ballot be mailed to you, please contact the Calais Town Office at 456-8720 or townclerk@calaisvermont.gov. You may also request mailed ballots for other members of your household. After January 29, we will no longer mail ballots, as it is questionable whether there is sufficient time for a voter to receive them and get them back to us by mail before the February 10 election.
-
To pick up a ballot in person, please visit the Calais Town Office during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. You may pick up a ballot only for yourself. If you request a ballot for a family member not present with you, we are required to mail the ballot to the voter's address in our voter registration records.
- Voters may vote in person at the Town Office during regular business hours up through February 9.
- Voters who are physically unable to come to the Town Office may request that a ballot be brought to them. Two Justices of the Peace will deliver the ballot to the voter's home and return the voted, sealed, signed ballot back to the Town Office. Please contact the Town Clerk to learn more: townclerk@calaisvermont.gov or (802) 456-8720.
Returning an Absentee Ballot
- Voters may return a voted ballot by mail up until Monday, February 2, in order to ensure that we receive your ballot in time for it to count. We do not recommend attempting to return it by mail after that date.
- Voters may return completed, sealed ballots to the Town Office until 7:00 am on February 10; outside of office hours, please deposit voted ballots in the secure office drop box in the Town Office vestibule.
- Voters may return completed, sealed ballots to the polling place, the Calais Town Hall, between 7:00 am and 7:00 pm on election day, February 10, 2026.
The Town Office will be closed for business on February 10, 2026
