State Primary Results

 

The polling station for the 2024 State Primary and Special Local Election will be open at the Calais Town Hall, 1662 Kent Hill Road, on August 13, 2024 from 7:00 am until 7:00 pm.

And remember - if a potential voter will turn 18 before the November election, they are eligible to vote in the state primary! They can register any time up to and on election day.

The Town of Calais will be holding a Special Local Election concurrent with the August 13, 2024 Vermont State Primary to fill two Selectboard seats. Both seats are 2-year terms, with one term ending Tuesday, March 4, 2025, and the other ending Tuesday, March 3, 2026. The newly elected officials' terms in office start as soon as their oaths of office are signed.

Requesting an Early Ballot

The deadline has passed to request that your ballots be mailed to you. To vote early or to pick up your ballots in person, please visit the Calais Town Office during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. You may pick up ballots only for yourself. If you request a ballot for a family member not present with you, we are required to mail the ballot to the voter's address in our voter registration records.

 

Returning a Ballot

- You may return your ballot(s) by mail using the envelopes provided to you at the Town Office. Please mail them as soon as possible to ensure that they get to the Town Clerk before August 13.

- You may return your ballot(s) in their signed, sealed envelopes at any time to the secure dropbox in the vestibule of the Town Office.

- You may return your ballot(s) in their signed, sealed envelopes to the Town Office staff during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. 

- You may bring your ballot(s) to the polling place on August 13, 2024 and vote at that time.

*Please note that new state legislation prohibits firearms at all polling places, including Town Clerk Offices during early voting periods.*
