Town Hall Renovation

The Calais Town Hall was initially constructed in 1866 and is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. However, around 2013, it could no longer be denied that the building was in need of serious renovation. Thanks to the support and hard work of our community members, the Town Hall was brought into the twenty-first century. In additional to general structural and aesthetic improvements, flood hazard mitigation and accessibility were also key considerations.

Phases I & II of the project are complete, and the Town Hall is back to serving the town as a center for municipal and non-municipal meetings, celebrations, and performances. The Friends are looking ahead to upgrade the audiovisual equipment on the upper floor to further improve and expand the possibilities for that space.
